Santa, it's me!!

We took the girls for the annual trip to see Santa at his Minnesota workshop on Sunday. Lily got to sit with her friend Jake and watch the show with Santa and his elf, Albert. When Santa came out to greet everyone, Lily jumped out of her seat with her little arms in the air and said 'Santa, it's me!!!' just like they were old friends. It was the funniest thing...:-)

She watched the show and then was more than happy to sit with Santa for a picture which is a big change from the past couple of years. And Bridget wasn't scared of Santa either so we didn't have any crying Santa pictures this year...maybe next year! ;-)

We also took Lily ice skating for the first time on Sunday. Dave and I both went out on the ice in our skates as G&G Herzog and Jade and Megan were there too to handle Bridget. Lily liked when her daddy held her on the ice as he could go way faster than mom can. Guess that's what all that hockey practice will get you...:-) We'll try to go again later this winter with her little friend Ava and get some pictures or video.

Happy Turkey Weekend...

We've had a busy Thanksgiving weekend...David's parents have been in town and his brother and sister-in-law joined us as well for Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey turned out well although Lily didn't think much of it, I think she'd have preferred 'Bumble Bee cereal' aka Honey Nut Cheerioes... Lily did get a chance to help Aunt Megan make the pumpkin pie and she did a great job except for the part when she licked the measuring spoon that had the cloves in it...that was not a pleasant surprise for her!! She was trying to wipe her tongue on any possible surface after that...

We are going to see Santa at his Minneapolis-based workshop tomorrow. He and his elf, Alfred, are in town so we're taking the girls to watch the little show and have a picture taken with Santa. Lily is excited to see Santa so I'm hopeful that this might be the first year we don't have a crying picture with Santa...best not count my chickens before they hatch though. I'm sure at least Bridget will be good for a crying Santa picture. :-)

Dave got Lily some ice skates last week too so we're going to try to get down to the ice rink and test them out. I even had him sharpen my ice skates so we'll see how far we make it. It's been a very long time since I was on ice skates so hopefully I stay upright most of the time.

It was Grandpa Bob's birthday today and Lily sang Happy Birthday to him and shared his little cake with him. He was lucky he got as many bites as he did! ;-)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Nice Fall Days

Had a beautiful day weather-wise here and got to be outside with the girls some. Lily came out with me this morning and we gave some of the plants 'a haircut' for the winter. We didn't get all of them but we did one side of the flowerbeds so that was good progress. She was such a good helper. She wore her 'Dora' gardening gloves and helped put everything in the bin after I cut it off the plant.

Uncle Jade and Aunt Megan came over for supper on Saturday and we all got to go look at the model of the new house they're going to build - it was very nice and Lily loved the little girl room that was done with fairy stuff. I had to sweet-talk her into leaving without any of the baby dolls from the model room. They're not going to be too far from us, closer than they are even right now so that'll be great!!

Lily's tummy seems to be feeling better, she's not being saying that it hurts much at all over the last few days. We still haven't gotten the lab results back, maybe Monday but it looks like she's kicked whatever it was on her own. Still interested to know though...

We discovered today that Bridget is getting more than just her bottom two teeth, some are coming through on the top too! No wonder she's been so crabby!!! This gives me hope that she really will sleep someday when all these teeth are done bothering her! She's got her bottom right tooth through, part of her bottom left tooth through and now part of her top right tooth is through too. Crazy girl, somebody forgot to tell her to not do all the teeth at the same time!!

Dave has tomorrow off for Veteran's Day, not me though. He has a long list of things to get done tomorrow so he won't be bored! :-)

Tales from the infirmary...

David has escaped so far but the girls and I are all recovering from a cold/sore throat. I'm sure the first of many for the winter season. Lily has been having an upset tummy lately too so took her to the doctor yesterday. The doctor got such a kick out of her, he asked me if I just laugh all day long with her around. :-) We're waiting on some lab results to see if it's something they can give her antibiotics for or if it's something she just needs to fight on her own. I hope they can help her as I feel bad for her when her stomach is bothering her all the time. Has made it hard to make that last transition over to underwear too. Hopefully when this is all sorted out, we can make that leap and be done with the pull-ups too! Yippee!

Lily was watching Dora the other day, "Dora saves the Mermaids" to be exact. She said, when I get big, I'm going to be a mermaid. I laughed but thought about how it's sad that someday you have to grow up and realize that you can't actually be a mermaid. That sense of infinite possibility is something to preserve...

Bridget has one of her bottom teeth through now and the other one is poking up just on one corner. I'm hoping that she gets those in soon and starts sleeping a bit better at night. She's been up about every 2 to 3 hours all week and hasn't slept through the night since Labor Day...it's ok the first month, but starts to get old every month after that!! Remaining ever hopeful though that a full night's sleep is somewhere in my near future!

On Saturday, I got some baby cereal ready for Bridget and then had to stop to help Lily with the potty. So I ran upstairs really quick to grab some underwear for her. When I got back downstairs about 15 seconds later, Lily was up at the table with Bridget and she said 'Mom, I feed Bridget!!' I had to snap a couple of pictures, it was so funny. She actually did a good job getting it into Bridget's mouth and not all over her pj's...
