All Hallow's Eve

Lily went trick-or-treating tonight with her friend Ava - they had fun and came back with a pumpkin full of candy!! Bridget and I went for a little bit and then Dave took Lily the rest of the way. It was getting to cold out for Bridget and I to be outside.

Halloween party was a big hit with the kids - Lily was up until almost midnight that night. I thought she would eventually crash but it certainly took her a long time. That kid can outlast me any day! Bridget was up late that night too so nobody was well-rested come Monday morning...glad we only do that once a year!

This weekend will be time to take down all the Halloween decorations. Christmas stuff will be next, based on how long it took me to get my Halloween stuff out, I should probably start immediately on Christmas stuff!

Almost 10 o'clock, time for bed! Who knows how many times Bridget will be up tonight!

TGIF

Took today off to get ready for the big Halloween party...didn't get nearly as much done today as I wanted to and I even forgot to eat lunch so I must have been busy doing something. The time just gets away on me...Anyway, got all the food bought and in the fridge, prepped what I could ahead of time. Got the rest of our costume details done too. Now, just have to do cleaning and then set out everything tomorrow.

Bridget is getting teeth!!! Now I know for sure as I can see them just starting to break the surface. She's really getting interested in 'real' food now too. She watches you eat like 'You've got to be kidding me, you're not going to give me any of that???' Thought about trying something with her tonight but with the party tomorrow, I really don't want to be up every 2 hours so I think I'll hold off until next week or weekend before we try baby food again. She's definitely interested in eating it if her tummy can stand it...We did give her some cut up grapes in her little mesh fruit eater so she could suck all the juice out of those. She really liked them and mashed them all up and sucked all the juice out. The cold of the grapes probably felt pretty good on those gums...

Have been trying to prep Lily for all the people coming tomorrow. I'm sure it's going to be difficult for her to share her toys with everyone. Maybe there will be so many kids that she can't possibly keep things away from everyone...usually she does pretty well with sharing so hopefully she'll be in a sharing mood. :-)

Stacks of little underwear

Was doing a mountain of laundry today as it's Wednesday and realized that I had a whole pile of little Lily underwear to fold...seems so strange that she could be wearing underwear!!! She doesn't wear it to daycare yet but she does wear it when she's at home now and she's getting pretty consistent with not having accidents. If she does have one, it tends to be when she's involved in something else and not paying attention to what else is going on. She's even been waking up dry in the morning which is amazing to me...although the 47 times she gets out of bed to go potty before she finally goes to sleep might help too...;-)

Bridget had a rough night last night and was up every 2 hours. Makes for a long night for me too. I think maybe it was her teeth because she had problems today too but going to stop the cereal and apple baby food just in case too. She seems to be sensitive to that stuff and I can't tell what the problem is with so many variables...we'll see. Try some baby food probably next week sometime. I think I see the little tips of her bottom teeth just under the surface so hopefully won't be too long before she'll have some pearly whites to show off!! Then she'll really be ready for something 'real' to eat!!

Running out of time...

Big Halloween party is this weekend already...never enough time in the day to do everything. I always have grand plans for all the things I'm going to get ready for the party but don't usually make it quite that far. I'm actually even taking Friday off as I know I won't get everything done just on Saturday with both the girls home too...

Took the girls to Emma Krumbee's Apple Orchard on Saturday and we had good weather after nearly a week of straight rain. Lily had fun playing with her friend Jake on the big slide and they got to see all the scarecrows and the petting zoo too. We had lunch and a quick run through the apple barn and then it was time to take off for home and nap time...maybe next year we will actually get to something apple-related before we have to go home! ;-)

Sleep...

Ahhhh.....sleep. Bridget slept last night until 2:30 which felt great to get a longer block of sleep. And then she slept until 6 am when I woke her up to feed her. Funny what a few hours of sleep can do for your outlook on life! :-)

I talked to my Mom on the phone on Sunday night when Lily was up and down out of bed to go potty a few times. When she woke up Monday morning, the first thing she said was 'Is Gramma on the phone?' I said, no Gramma had to go to sleep too!

Raining here again today but supposed to be clear tomorrow. The grass is getting long again, I was hoping we were done with mowing for the season but doesn't look like it.

Finally got some of my Halloween decorations out! I usually get them out in late September so I'm really far behind this year. Started getting some gift bags assembled for the kids at the Halloween party but got only about half way through before I got too tired and went to bed instead. I think I counted almost 25 kids coming to the Halloween party!! Funny how the vibe of that party has changed over the past few years...;-)

Sunday, October 14

Ummm, yeah. It's actually Monday but who's counting. The precious few hours of sleep I've been getting lately are now interrupted by a page from work...ugh. Bridget is finally sleeping more than 2 hours in a stretch and I get woken up anyway by a page from work. Someone else's issue but I'm waiting to make sure everything gets taken care of before I try to get back to sleep...

I think Bridget has a cold, sounded kind of hoarse when I went to get her about 10:30. Maybe a sore throat? Gave her some Tylenol and she's slept since then. Now if only I could...:-)

Lily had a pretty good potty-training weekend...we did 'big-girl' underwear some on Saturday and some on Sunday. And while we do have a small pile of clothes and other assorted things that now need to be washed, she did make some progress too. And, haven't had to change a poopy diaper for weeks now which, to me, is the nicest thing about this whole potty-training thing!

What a Saturday so far...Bridget was up every 2 hours last night and Lily didn't want to take a nap today so we're all tired and crabby...BUT, we did go to the pumpkin patch this morning so Lily could pick out a pumpkin with her friend Jake...Lily decided she wanted a little one because the big ones were too heavy for her.
